Live Traffic Widget Coming Soon
Google Maps is about to release a new widget that will show live traffic in your area in the app, and you’ll be able to view it from your lock screen. This feature is comparable to what Waze, “the other driving and mapping app” that Google bought a decade ago, used to provide.
FEATURES:
The Google Maps app already shows users their projected arrival and travel times, as well as whether there is traffic on the route, which is indicated by yellow, orange, or red colors.
The new live traffic widget will serve as an added benefit for users, providing them a clearer understanding of how congested routes are around them and allowing them to adapt their journey times accordingly.
The feature also works to show you traffic in a specific area, if you zoom in, instead of showing you the wider map.
Before this widget, you would have to open up the main app to see these details, and this now going to be available right on your home screen.
This widget will be gradually rolled out to users over the next few weeks, so it may not be in your widgets library right now.
“Whether you’re commuting or meeting up with pals, Google Maps’ real-time traffic predictions may make planning your route a breeze.”
“You’ll view this information for your present area right from your Android Home screen with the new nearby traffic widget, which will appear in the coming weeks,”
35th Android Widget
Google stated. This live traffic widget is Google’s 35th and most recent Android widget.
Google Maps just included a tool that shows you the air quality around you, as well as a function that shows you how much toll you’ll have to pay on a specific route when traveling between cities. Both of these capabilities, however, are only available as widgets on the map.
