Stabilizer is an electrical device that is designed to convey a constant voltage to a weight at its output terminals, in spite of changes in input or received supply voltage. It protects the equipment or the appliance against overvoltage, low voltage and other voltage issues so it is also called an automatic voltage regulator (AVR). Voltage stabilizers are generally chosen for expensive and valuable electrical equipment to guard them from damaging high / low voltage fluctuations. various of these equipments are air conditioning equipment, laboratory equipment, industrial machines and medical devices.

Types of Voltage Stabilizers: – The Voltage Stabilizers can be generallycategorized into three types.

  1. Voltage stabilizers of relay type: -In relay type stabilizers, the voltage are synchronized by switching relays. The relays are used to join the secondary transformers in different configurations to accomplish the Buck & Boost function. A relay has a transformer with sockets, relays and an electronic circuit board. The circuit board contains a rectifier circuit, an amplifier, a microcontroller unit and other support components. The electronic circuit board performs the comparison of the output voltage with the reference voltage source. When it detects any increase or decrease in the input source beyond the reference value, it switches the corresponding relay to connect the necessary tap for the Buck / Boost function.
  1. Voltage stabilizers based on servo: – In servo-based voltage stabilizers, the voltage regulation is carried out with the assist of a servomotor so they are also known as Servo Stabilizers. These stabilizers are closed loop systems. In a closed loop system, a depressing feedback is sure from the output so that the system can guarantee that the desired output has been achieved. This can be achieving by comparing the output and input signals. Due to closed loop property, servo-based voltage stabilizers are used for devices / tools that are very responsive and require a precise input power supply (± 01%) to perform the intended functions.

Voltage stabilizers with static: -.Static voltage stabilizer uses an electronic power converter circuit to steady the voltage. These static voltage stabilizers have very high correctness and the voltage stabilization is within ± 1%. A static voltage stabilizer have a “Buck & Boost” transformer, an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) power converter, a microcontroller, a microprocessor, and other essential components. The microcontroller / microprocessor control the IGBT power converter to produce the essential voltage level. In the technique of ‘Pulse Width Modulation’, power converters in switch mode use a power semiconductor switch (such as MOSFET) to make the transformer to the preferred output voltage.

The voltage stabilizer is a cost-efficient solution, suggested for those who want to guard their tools (hardware) against the variations (oscillations) of the voltage, peaks and noise present in the main pipes. Many costly electrical types of equipment needed the stabilizers very badly, because anytime power fluctuation can be coming and this fluctuation can destroy the electrical equipments. Not anything is more essential for electronic equipment than a protected filter.
